under OPT you are still on F1 Visa...If you join another degree, you can still have F1, I believe you just need to inform the university on which your visa was issued about the university transfer. International affairs at your new univ. should help in this regard.

HI..
My grand father and grand mother are trying to apply for visitor visa.. my grand father is a retired govt employee and grand mom is home maker.. my grandfather is coming on their own and we are not sponsoring them..he will be able to submit tax returns as he runs small business and owns 1 apartment and few lands my questions are:
1.what are the documents should he take for visa ?
2.how much of bank balance? (they say 6 months of bank statements is necessary)
3.cant he just say he's retired and take the asset evaluation and bank statements alone?
please help ...

If we lose our job after having the I-485 pending for more than 8 months, I-140 approved, how much time do we have to find another job?
Do we have to immediately withdraw the petition after losing/quiting a job?

The advice i got is that you should be in a new job ( and notified USCIS about usage of AC21 ) before,
1. The I-485 is approved
2. Any RFE directed to the old employer

Hey emboli,
No, I haven't used Optimaze yet. Their reports say that SWF files are significantly reduced in size. I don't have any first-hand experience to tell you if it is true or not though :(

Is core group out of mind...Sueing will waste our funds..
Please use this money for constructive tasks.
Since first day, if u have tried to make I485 filing w/o priority date current..
At least 90% of people wud have utilized AC21 and change employers.
Ofcourse you always convince the higher authorities, to let us file 485s and issue GC, when dates become current.
As long as we file 485 and utilize AC21, we will be in safe situation.
Have some plan and result oriented plan.
Thinking big is ok, but we shd know what actually we can do.

I just spoke with Xiyun Yang from Washington Post and conveyed thanks for covering a detailed article. She expressed that there is attention being drawn by many quarters including political for "Skilled LEGAL Immigrants".
Also we need to emphasize & communicate is the "increased fees" (almost doubled in many cases) for all USCIS services effective end of this month (July 30). Is this the penalty to be legal ?
The rallys and campaigns should emphasize this important detail too. This is huge money and not fair to the amount of service that is being currently provided.

I was on F1 visa and applied for my GC / I485 thru my spouse few years back. Unfortunately while coming back from India 3 years back, I used my stamped F1 visa instead of AP. My lawyer told me that due to this, I have abondoned my AOS and he has to withdraw my 485 and refile it when it will be current. Few days back spouse became current and attorney was preparing to apply for 485 again but in USCIS the status of my application was still shown pending not withdrawn. To our surprise, we saw 2 GC in the mail and the online status was shown approved. But the attorney is saying that we should re-file the 485 since USCIS did not withdraw my application and approved it. They says that I might have issues if my absence is detected when I will apply for citizenship later. Please suggest. I am so puzzled and tensed..

My ead card production ordered. I efiled on April 27th.
Rediculous, the processing times say it takes 90 days minimum. hopefully they will give the extension from my expiry date which is Aug 28th 2008.

I have an approved I-140 in the EB 2 category and I'm changing my employer next month. However, my current lawyer emailed me this morning saying that you can transfer your PD, but not in the same category (EB2). In other words, to keep my PD, I will have to apply through EB1 or EB3 with my new employer. I had not heard of this before and was wondering if this is a true statement. Has anyone successfully transfered their PD within the same category? Thanks.
