    My 2 cents.

From what I have read and learned from my experience, the dwelling (house/condo/apt, etc) prices are sensible and affordable (read payable) if it is between 2-3 times household annual income. I think this applies universaly with few exceptions.

Average household (family) income in India metro cities is around 6-7 INR lacs. For folks working in IT, it would be 'X' % more depending on his/her work. Let's take liberal amount of 12 lacs p.a.

This means that buying a property for price over INR 36 lacs would carry significant risk of defaulting. I have heard many of my friends give me argument that our income will grow significantly over years and should be able to manage higher loan amounts.

I am really aghast at the rate at which NRI's are investing in India. I can speak to Mumbai, where there are thousands of NRI bought properties that are vacant for years and there is no justifiable ROI. Having realised that there is no ROI due to resale or renting, sooner or later they will start pulling out their hard earned money. I wouldn't be surprised to see many foreclosures, in years to come, and RBI may have to bail out ICICI, IDBI, etc - a scenario similar to Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac.

I have thumb rule for myself - Don't buy property which is 3 times more than current annual income.

P.S. This isn't applicable for folks who have inherited a fortune. :D

I submitted the 485 without the VSC hoping that it will be ready by the time USCIS issue RFE on this. Do you know when we can expect the RFE after the submission?

Visa Screen is needed to adjust your status. It is always better to have your visa screen ready. USCIS will send an RFE for that. However, while AOS is pending, EAD can be issued.

    Got legal immigration?

    .
This is a great article. We will be making efforts to get it published. if somone can also write on the innvators (http://www.ocregister.com/ocregister/opinion/homepage/article_1366853.php) (If you doubt the contributions of foreign-born workers to our country, you simply need to look at the talent that has provided the United States with a high-technology edge. Sergey Brin, co-founder of Google, is Russian-born; Intel co-founder Andy Grove is from Hungary; Sabeer Bhatia, co-founder of Hotmail, is from India; Jerry Yang, originally from Taiwan, brought us Yahoo; Pierre Omidyar, founder of eBay, is from France; and Vinod Kholsa, co-founder of Sun Microsystems, is from India.) and how they helped America in the op-ed it will be another angle for us.

The article can talk about the talent, innovation high skilled immigrants bring to this country and be more specific to the greencard process. The above mentioned URL is specific to H1B visa.

This is good information to know. If this is the case, then at least once in a year they have to make all the categories current. May be for September every year so that they do not waste any VISA numbers.

Again that depends on the demand vs supply. To have every one approved in EB3 (esp back logged countries), EB1 (All countries), EB2 (All countries) has to be current. Then the extra visas flow down to EB3 (ROW) and to all back logged countries (India, China, etc).

I am still wondering how DOL made all countries current in July bulletin. I think it is mainly due to many Labor Applications in BEC is either replaced by PERM or might not make all the way up to I-485. Many of us 2001 / 2002 filers discussed this theory a lot and did came to the conclusion that such a back log is artificially created as DOL, DOE and USCIS, who does not know exactly how many are there in approvable condition.

That is proved beyond doubt by the July bulletin :)

Hey guys make hey while the sun shines. I wish all of you will get GC much faster than us.

    Thanks

Biggest mistake or unlucky whoever missed July 07 fiasco.

Probably both!!! It ain't gonna happen again unless CIR passes or DoS changes their strategy.

IV has started a donor Forum for contributing members.

    http://immigrationvoice.org/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=109

Our monthly subscription based model will help members get access to this area for that time period. In the coming days we will be consolidating all previous subscribers who are continuing their subscription at present to be added as well. If you are an old continuing subscriber, and do not have access, do send an email to info at immigrationvoice.org with your name, email, amount subscribed every month and your IV ID. We will verify it and add you. If you have given a one time payment this month more than $25, we will be dividing it by $25 and the system will calculate the number of months you are subscribed. If you have the old $20/month subscription, please continue that. We will add you in the Monthly subscribers as well.

If you wish to subscribe, please click on the donate now link, adjacent to the green progress bar above and subscribe.

From now we will post IV updates on the donor forum so that members who contribute get the privilege of getting the information. If the information can be released for public, we will release it on the main forums after a delay. Donor forum will have the first access to the information. All donors will be identified by a 'donor' status in their profiles instead of junior/senior members.

If members want to start a thread in the donor forum, please add 'Donor Forum' before the the thread title so that everyone knows it is in the restricted area.

Admins will visit this area more often and answer questions from members. This will also enable more close coordination and communication between committed members. It is sometimes difficult for us to to read every post on the forum or post certain information for public consumption.

Thank you for your continued support

I did many one time contributions before , Today I started my monthly contibution ( Paypal - Subscription Number: S-3GB61005N70576746)

    Better Late than never.

    Thanks

    Natraj

manderson: i too dont remember seeing otherwise (that there is a limit)
but that doesnt mean they'll look more closely at the case.

But again you dont 'have' to be working while on EAD (as you are an adjustee) and they decide based on the original company's ability to pay. You can work even for/by yourself (self-employed)

I dont understand how this is all interpreted 'together' - someone else with more expertise than me would help.

Looks like she changed the Article title in NYT.

The initial one is "Agency Mix-Up Denies Applicants Green Cards", and now "Suit Planned Over Visas for the Highly Skilled".
