We just need 20,000 active members to make a change, which is approx 10% of the total number of GC apps pending. At the most 2000 people are active.
If somebody can being in 20,000 active members to this forum, the change will happen.
I dont think all the 20,000 members need to be active every day or every week. What is that you are expecting them to be active every day. If we are not able to pull the crowd, it is not the inability of the crowd but the leadership. Crowd whether it is Indian or other is always like that. It is the effective leadership that makes the difference. For example if you take Martin Luther King, Gandhi or for that matter any leader, it is their speeches/actions that inspired people to involve in the movement not just the people came all by themselves.

Thank you for this thread. This news has given me fresh energy to start my case one more time under EB-2 category. I just finished filing a long document for my attorney. This news has given me enough strngth to do that. My advise, I do not see any hope in EB3-I category, unless someone makes a change in existing laws. I can't complain about EB-3 either because we could file I-485 during July-07, my wife got EAD and we do not have to go to consulate every time we visit home country. When there is a will there is a way. It is hard to just sit and watch this so called BS or DOS visa bulls.

what happens when dates retrogress? If my PD is 2000 Jan (assume) and some one else has 2001 Jan (assume) with RDs July/2007 and Mar/2007 respectively and in August 2007 PD cut off date went back to 2000 Feb (assume) then does it mean that 2000 Jan PD is ineligible to get the adjudication before the guy with PD 2001 Jan because the RD is later for this case? Again if the answer to this question is yes then ,when the PD is set at 2000 Feb why are they accepting new AOS apps which satisfy this PD cutoff date because if they process by RD(at all times) they are not likely to consider these for adjudication anyway? Is it just for our benifit that we can get an EAD? If I go down this path I donot understand the purpose of the whole PD in this process.
The thing I am trying to understand is 'if PD is not significant in AOS why is it there at all in the visa bulletin'. If RD overrides the PD at the AOS stage then instead of specifying a PD in the Visa bulletin they can just say that
"We are accepting new AOS applications" and then adjudicate them in the order of the RD.
These are all just my thoughts and am trying to put them together. I may very well be wrong in my basic understanding of this process. Thank you for your previous reply. That was helpful.

Here is my point. I spend several hours 3-4 hours at least every day looking through the forum posts hoping to find ways i can contribute to efforts. There are several ideas that are generated in the forum. But cannot find out who is leading it. All i am saying is if we can have a listing of initiatives with some names associated. So i can contribute to the ones that i can support. I am not sure if i am asking for too much here. I am not a IT guy. I do not know what it takes to post it in the front page.

Not true. Anybody donates will get Donor status. This is started for last few days, so people who donated in last few days get this. Pappu mentioned that he is planning to cross reference this with old donations but not sure whats happening there.

Can you confirm if your Priority date was earlier than Aug 2004? PD is the date you applied for your Labor Cert., not the date you got approved for your Labor Certification.
From the above you are saying that you applied for LC in Aug 2004 and it was approved by or little before Feb 2005. In Feb 2005 or say Jan 2005 you may have concurrently applied for I-140 and I-485, and hence you were already in the I-485 stage.
If this is the case, then you were pretty fortunate in getting your LC approved in only 6 months, and that too before PERM was introduced. (PERM was introduced on March 28 2005)

USCIS currently has no accountability at all. Nor do they seem to have any clue about how many cases they have in the queue. Just see EB2-I dates for all the 12 VBs for the 2008 fiscal year: It started at 1 APR 2004 then retrogressed back steadily till it eventually became "U" just to jump back to 1 Aug 2006 for the last 3 months! Now after one whole year of processing and approving some 20-30K green cards for EB2-I it is starting at 1 APR 2003, a full year back from where it began last year!! Meanwhile they have handed out thousands of green cards to PDs in 2006 when the rule clearly states they have to clear older PDs first! Care to explain, USCIS?
I know people are sending out mails and DHS-7001 forms on their own but these individual scatter-shot attempts will all vanish in a big black abyss of USCIS bureaucracy and fall on deaf years. Only chance to instill some sense in this adhoc process seems to be if IV as a whole organization takes up this matter with Ombudsman and influential congressmen/senators like Zoe lofgren. IV had been very influential in redressing excesses by USCIS in the past - turing back July 2007 fiasco was no mean feat! Can we have some IV action item from core for this?
I'm afraid unless we do something about it as a group there is absolutely nothing to prevent USCIS from doing the same outrageous thing year after year with little fear of any retribution. We will all be practically at complete USCIS mercy!
Finally, I'm nothing but happy for those who got their GCs in this last round of "Lotto drawing" - including those with PD much later than mine - but the prospect of being stuck in a black hole called USCIS year after year scares the hell out of me!

Between July & August do you think it will cross 1.5 years taking all of 2006 & half of 2007 applications? Considering VdlRao's data which is 70K applications pending for 2006 I am not sure it will work thought I am still hopeful that 2005 will pass quickly since there are few PERM applications.
